Dr. Lama Dakkouri is a specialist pediatric and special care dentist. She qualified in 2010 from the University of Jordan, moved to London in 2012 and completed a Dental Doctorate (DDent) in Pediatric Dentistry from the Eastman Dental Institute – University College London (UCL) in 2015. She completed her Master’s of Science (MSc) in special care dentistry from the Eastman Dental Institute- UCL in 2016 as well as obtained a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) in dental conscious sedation from Kings College London Dental institute in 2017.
In addition, Lama obtained her clinical fellowship in craniofacial and cleft lip/palate and worked as a specialty doctor in Great Ormond Street hospital for children in London. This gave her an in-depth insight on multidisciplinary care when dealing with such cases. She is also a member and a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and completed her final fellowship in pediatric dentistry (FFD) from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2016.
With over 10 years of experience in dealing with children and special care patients, Dr. Lama had the opportunity to work in several countries including Jordan, Saudi Arabia, England, Kuwait, and UAE. Her main interest is in dental management of children and adults with special care under sedation.
Dr. Lama is a co-founder of the Arabic Society of Disability and Oral Health. She presented several talks in Pediatric and Special Care Dentistry in national and international conferences. Her research is also published in several international journals.
Being raised in Jordan and surrounded by children of all ages, her personality shines through and through. She is kind and calm but firm and always manages to gain the trust of the children she is treating and befriends them as well. Her bond with the children spiked her interest to explore yet another milestone in academia and eventually complete a Diploma in Child Psychology and a Diploma in Autism Awareness.
In her spare time, she loves to read, play the piano and occasionally knits. She also enjoys exploring new countries and cultures.
